October 15, 2005: MPAA's Classification and Rating
Administration has given Warner Bros. Pictures' V For Vendetta an
R rating for strong violence and some language. -Thanks to 'Superherohype'

August 18, 2005: Warner Bros.' adaptation
of Alan Moore and David
Lloyd's V For Vendetta has been pushed back until March 17,
2006, according to an anonymous source at the studio. This move
has been confirmed to ComingSoon.net/SuperheroHype.com
by the studio. According to SCI FI Wire, the move was made
not because of the subject matter and its similarities to the recent
terror bombings in London, but to give them more time "to accomodate
the post-production schedule."
July 23, 2005: Warner Bros. has released
the trailer to this fall's V for Vendetta, starring Natalie
Portman and Hugo

May 9, 2005: Hugo
Weaving has replaced James
Purefoy in Warner Bros. Pictures' V For Vendetta, from the Wachowski
brothers and Joel Silver.
He will star opposite Natalie
Portman as the the title vigilante character known as V. Weaving
replaces James Purefoy, who left the production for undisclosed
reasons. The film, in production in Berlin with a November 4 release
date, is based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Alan
Moore and illustrator David

April 21, 2005: Empire Online talked
to Stephen
Fry, who is the voice of The Guide in The Hitchhiker's Guide
to the Galaxy, and the actor confirmed rumors that he is starring
in Warner Bros.' V For Vendetta. "I'm playing the character
of Gordon Deitrich, who's a chat show host who questions the authority
of the people who run Britain in this post-viral facist state, as
it were," says Fry. Fry also revealed more casting that hasn't
been announced yet, saying that John
Hurt, Tim
Pigott-Smith and Sinead
Cusack are part of the cast. They join the previously-announced
Natalie
Portman, James
Purefoy and Stephen
Rea.
April 19, 2005: Looks like our scooper was right
on the money about Stephen
Fry joining the cast (see April 15 news item): "IGN FilmForce
recently interviewed British actor-writer Stephen Fry (Hitchhiker's
Guide to the Galaxy) who happened to be in Berlin. And why was he
in Germany? It turns out he was there filming a role in the big-screen
adaptation of the Alan Moore/Dave Gibbons

April 15, 2005: Scooper 'Nick' sends
in this interesting piece of scoopage (not sure if thats even a
word)... anyway, here it is: "ok, this is my first bit of info
that i have ever sent in. my dad is a Chauffeur for hire and a few
days ago, he picked up the comedian, actor, writer and director

Fry at the Airport. he had just come back from Berlin, where
he had been filming V for Vendetta! now, so far, i have not seen
any news about this anywhere else, so i guess it is something they
aren't revealing but i for one am very excited. i don't know who

production in Berlin, Germany. Produced by Joel
Silver, Andy
Wachowski and Larry
Wachowski's, V For Vendetta is directed by James
McTeigue, who served as the First Assistant Director on the
Wachowski brothers' "Matrix" trilogy.

Portman is in final talks to topline the Wachowski
brothers' V for Vendetta, for Warner Bros. Pictures
and producer Joel
Silver, reports Variety. An adaptation of Alan
Moore's graphic novel of the same name, the action-heavy
script was written by the "Matrix" writers. Their longtime
first assistant director James
McTeigue will make his directorial debut on the film. The Wachowskis
will produce with Warners-based Silver. Written by Alan Moore, with
art by David Lloyd, "Vendetta"
takes place in a totalitarian England following a devastating war
that changed the face of the planet. In a world without political
freedom, personal freedom and precious little faith in anything
