Latest ‘RED’ Update

With my weekend extended for a day, I’m back to write a few updates for you, the readers. First up, we’re reporting on the latest news involving the film adaptation of Warren Ellis’ RED.

Upcoming CBM: ‘Black Summer’

Vigilante Entertainment is launching operations by developing Warren Ellis’ comic book series “Black Summer” with Ryne Pearson (Knowing) attached to write the screenplay, reports Variety.
“Black Summer,” published by Avatar Press in 2007, centers on superhero team the Seven Guns, a group of scientist-adventurers who modified their own bodies for street-fighting in order to take back their West Coast city from a corrupt police force, criminal local government and rapacious private security forces.
Vigilante is headed by Hicham Benkirane, former head of audiovisual development at French comicbook publisher Les Humanoides Associes.

Martin Campbell Talks ‘Green Lantern’

A few weeks ago we brought an update from Ryan Reynolds talking about the upcoming DC property, Green Lantern. In that update, we told you filming would start sometime next year, possibly April.

‘Thor’ to Film in New Mexico?

We’ve been reporting quite a bit on Thor recently. It’s not because we love the God of Thunder more than any other comic book character, it’s the fact that Marvel’s upcoming CBM is getting closer to it’s shooting schedule. More ‘Scott Pilgrim’ Images and a Possible Release Date

While doing the weekend search of all the daily photos from Scott Pilgrim director Edgar Wright’s website, I came across the article image which could mean alot of things.
1.) It could mean the director didn’t feel like posting another daily image and knew the fans wouldn’t mind if he took a day off.
2.) It could be a subtle hint for a release date.

Don Cheadle Talks ‘Iron Man 2′

It’s been a few weeks since we actually got an update from someone who has worked on the upcoming CBM, Iron Man 2. Great Find: Danny Pudi is ‘Batman’

On last night’s episode of NBC’s hit show Community, Danny Pudi, who plays Abed, dressed as Batman for Halloween. In that episode he’s constantly using the voice of Batman created by Christian Bale in Christopher Nolan’s film series. By clicking the image above, you can watch Pudi use the voice in the after credits scene. Be sure to watch the full episode over at Hulu.com.

Brain Blessed or Anthony Hopkins as Odin?

Earlier today we told you Anthony Hopkins was the latest star to be added to the massive casting rumors surrounding Marvel’s upcoming CBM, Thor. ‘Men in Black 3′ Moving Forward?

Etan Cohen (”Tropic Thunder”) has been hired to pen a script for a third “Men in Black” for Sony Pictures reports the trades.
No deals are yet in place for director Barry Sonnenfeld or stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones to return.
The studio however is rushing forward with the project which aims to start filming in 2010.

Anthony Hopkins Cast as Odin in ‘Thor’!

The Hollywood Reporter and Variety have both broken news that Anthony Hopkins has been cast as the Norse God Odin in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor, which starts filming in January 2010. For those unfamiliar with the family tree, Odin is Thor’s father.
The “official” plot synopsis goes like this:
The powerful but arrogant warrior Thor’s reckless actions re-ignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
The film is schedule for a May 20, 2011 release.
