The Incredible Hulk Movie Review

8 out of 10 stars mainly because (Iron Man is a 9 of 10 film and there is that much of a difference between the pair) there are slow parts in the film, which come at you like a gamma radiated fist after seeing the faster paced Iron Man. Not the same type of special affects… of course because it was a different team working on the film. I said that to say this… PLEASE DO NOT GO INTO THE HULK TRYING TO COMPARE IT TO IRON MAN OR YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.

The feel of the film was pretty sweet though. The locations and back drop of the film great. You can feel the difference in Ed Norton vs Eric Bana… and it was fantastic. The entire film seemed to be bring out desparation in everything. Obviously between Bruce and The Hulk… but also between the military to hunt the monster, Betty to try and save the man she loves… General Ross in trying to capture the ‘experiment’ and even Blonski in the capacity that he plays in the film (I don’t want to spoil it). Oh there is someone else who (spoiler alert) that is also shown in a desperate role in trying to help Banner, to understand… ‘ahem’. I’ll leave it at that.

The Hulk (the creature) looked pretty cool. A lot more of how you would think a ‘man’ type being would act, move and respond when threatened. You do have to adjust yourself however, because it is a drastic change from Ang Lee’s Hulk creature. This Green Giant was more like “The Beast” in Beauty and The Beast instead of some (as my friend describes the comic character) big green retard. Even as he’s yelling, well roaring and throwing things and moving around was just great stuff. He did kinda look a little less impervious to harm than Brandon Roth’s Superman character. Which was cool, because it made him more ‘human’ as it were. You could even see cuts, bruises and battle damage (although slight) on that emerald skin.

Action sequences definitely pump your own adrenaline through your veins and keep you on the edge of your seat with excitement. The sound quality was better than Ang Lee’s and it made you really feel the character’s emotions. From Liv Taylor’s exhales, the Hulk’s breathing, Blonski’s sinister smirks and General’s inaudible protest of being at his witts end.

If you’ve seen the TV spot where Blonski takes on the Hulk one and one. It does not turn out CHEESY. Especially when The Hulk front kicks the man to a state of FUBAR.

The film touched on the love between Betty, Banner and even the Hulk with out going into the depths of Peter Parker and Mary Jane in the Spider-man Franchise. It was cool and even had a moment that caused the whole theater to laugh. Cute lil’ couple those young kids.

Pretty smart movie… and definitely reminds you of the comics how the US military will show up anywhere at anytime with HumVees, Tanks, Battle Ships, 50 cal Mini Guns, Master Blaster Suppa Rays and a platoon of infiltry units though. Also how you can find a suppa advance lab will all this suppa advance stuff and equipment in the darnest places. I was like dayum… will all of this stuff just easy access and lying around why the hell not run some more experiments! You never know if you’ll see a “Leader” or… oops!

Richard Gracie (Gracie Jujitsu) was in there! For all of you MMA, Jujitsu and Martial art fans out there.

I’ll suggest you pay close attention to the opening credits. You will see several treats. Pay attention to all the ‘concoctions’ and ‘fluids’ in the film. Pay attention to locations, addresses and labels. NO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SIT THROUGH ALL THE CREDITS! The fan boi scene is at the end of the film, not at the end of the credits. If you want to sit through the credits you’ll see who does the ‘voice’ for the Hulk and Abomination. Which was cool.

Umm… I will also say… watching this film and a few ’scenes’ makes you YEARN for a Captain America live action ‘rebirth’ film at the same time PRAY they DO NOT use Leonardo Di Caprio for Steve Rogers as it’s been suggested/hinted on a few forum pages.

All in all… better than ‘good’ job. Special effects really brought The Hulk and Abomination to life as we’d would envision them. I mean it was cool seeing the projectiles leave small indents in the Hulks skin as they bounced off with out piercing him. Plus they (Gamma beings) moved around like professional football (Running Backs) players instead of lumbering steroid freaks. It was pretty smooth. Oh and the green eyes effect like from the TV show, excellent touch.

Oh and it looks like we will be seeing a different type of Hulk in the next installment. Seems like Banner has gotten in touch with that inner monster… ok 1 spoiler, but it’s like… not even a spoiler. If you blink, you’ll miss it.

That’s it. I am still processing the event. Y? Because I have to go see it again with friends (at the box office) not the 73″ flat screen.

Check it out!
