This movie exceeded expectations… “period.” I thought the story writing or dialog may have suffered because of all the money spent in the special effects and “Iron Man” suit technology. I was wrong.
The story flowed pretty well… it was exciting. The slow parts were very minimum and even overlooked just to see what would be next.
The scenes where Tony Stark is building/upgrading and troubleshooting the MACH 2 to MACH 3 battle suits were pretty dayum great, funny and kept you drooling with anticipation & excitement.
Mr Bridges looked flonominal! He re-invented himself for the character roll he played in the film.
Mr Downey Jr. did a great job, which is expected because he is a great actor.
Mr Howard filled the part of Rhodes well… IMO. Although I’m not too familiar with the comic character.
Climatic scene was good. The battle between Iron Monger and Iron Man was fantastic! Reminded me a lot of Robo Cop vs Kain in Robo Cop 2, plus caused me to imagine the possibilities of The Hulk vs The Abomination in The Incredible Hulk due out this ‘08 summer.
The advertisments were noticable, but not blatent like the ones featured in Transformers… but it sure makes you want to go into debt to buy that new Audi! SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII that was a hot ride.
There is, of course, lead-ins for a sequel as well as a possible Mr Rhodes getting into the whole “War-Machine” persona. When Terrance Howard says… “Next time baby…” dead give-a-ways.
Umm… let see… geez… I want to do some spoilers, but I just can’t do it!!! UGH!!!
The film leaves you wanting to see more of the suit, but at the same time most will be satisfied with the screen times in place.
The special effects are spectacular!!! The dialog well written, and the jokes come off right on time.
I would like to give spoilers, but I won’t… I will leave that for someone else’s review… because you should be surprised like everone else!
IMO, it’s better than Batman Begins and Transformers.
Stick around after the credits for an almost an orgasmic “coming soon” treat.
All and all… 8.5 out 10 stars.
Not a 9, because although I enjoyed Iron Man a lot… it did not grab me to keep going back to the theater to watch it back to back to back like I did Spider-man or 300.
CHECK IT OUT!!!!
