April 7, 2008: Kevin Munroe ("TMNT") has officially signed on to direct an adaptation of the Italian comic book "Dylan Dog" reports Bloody-Disgusting. Dylan Dog is a penniless nightmare investigator who defies the whole preceding horror tradition with a vein of surrealism and an anti-bourgeois rhetoric. The true monsters in many of these stories are human beings. Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns") has officially signed on to headline the Dark Horse Comics title and shooting begins this July in Toronto. Source: DarkHorizons December 15, 2004: Platinum Studios, an
entertainment company that controls the world's largest independent
library of comic book characters, and Relativity Management,
one of Hollywood’s leading talent management firms, have selected The Shop Animation Studios, an innovative feature-film production
company specializing in computer-animation to develop and co-produce “Dylan Dog: The Fourth Kingdom”. The feature film, which
is based on the Italian comic book series “Dylan Dog”,
will be the first computer animated thriller. Relativity is concluding
foreign sales components for the film, with discussions underway with
different domestic studios for distribution. The film is scheduled
to start production in March 2005 at The Shop in Vancouver. "The
Shop knows how to push boundaries on both style and efficiency --
a very rare combination,” said Scott
Mitchell Rosenberg, chairman of Platinum Studios which includes “Dylan Dog” in its vast library of titles. “With
The Shop as our theatrical animation partners, starting with Dylan,
we have the resources to brand our characters worldwide by utilizing
our digital assets for games, licensing and all other media.”
Ian Pearson, co-founder of The
Shop, will direct, based on a script he co-wrote with long-time creative
partner Gavin Blair. This is Pearson’s
first major creative endeavor since stepping down as the president
and CEO of Mainframe Entertainment, where he created and/or produced
such award-winning projects as ”Reboot,” ”Barbie
in the Nutcracker,” ”Action Man,” ”War Planets”
and ”Weird-Ohs.” “For years I’ve been trying
to find the right character to tell a more mature story using animation
and Dylan Dog is the perfect vehicle,” said Pearson. “Although
it has a lot of humor, Dylan is a much darker animated feature. It
will surprise the animation audience.” “Dylan Dog: The
Fourth Kingdom” follows the latest case of Dylan Dog, an investigator
of nightmares. Dylan must stop a supernatural serial killer intent
on becoming a new deity and ruler of “The Fourth Kingdom,”
a new afterlife. If Dylan fails, the current love of his life will
die and the forces of heaven and hell may unleash Armageddon upon
the Earth. The Shop’s president and co-founder, Aaron
L. Gilbert, and Rosenberg are producing, with Ryan
Kavanaugh, Relativity’s CEO, serving as executive producer
with Ervin Rustemagic. |
