December 6, 2006: As reported on JobLo.com: "Guillermo Del Toro and writer Gary Dauberman are teaming up to adapt DC Comic DEADMAN to the screen for Warner Bros. DEADMAN tells the story of Boston Brand, a circus acrobat who was murdered while performing a trapeze act. OK, OK, it starts out lame but actually turns out to be kinda cool. He's later granted the powers to possess the living to help find his murderer and otherwise helping the innocent. DEADMAN was recently relaunched by Vertigo with a similar premise but otherwise completely different. It is expected that Del Toro's vision will adhere more to the original DEADMAN than the reimagined 2006 version. DEADMAN almost made it to TV at one time with a series on TNT but that was shelved. Dauberman is a comic writer who attracted Del Toro and Warner Bros.' interest with a zombie western spec script. Del Toro's PAN'S LABYRINTH can be seen in theaters this month and he's hard at work on HELLBOY 2." -Thanks to 'RyanOC' for the heads up! |
