April 3, 2006: Director Paul McGuigan said in a recent interview, while promoting 'Lucky Number Slevin', that he is not involved in the upcoming Marvel film Deathlok. However, 'Derailed' director Mikael Håfström says he really likes the script and is discussing it. Håfström says he would like film it after he films '1408' February 10, 2006: Wow, been almost a year since we've updated this little puppy. Well, it would seem Paul McGuigan is gearing up and "hopes to start shooting the film later this year". So, they're ya go. Might be ready for a 2007 release. In regards to Deathlok, they talked to producer Kevin Feige and he confirmed that the director of "Wicker Park", Paul McGuigan, is doing the movie. He commented that he took to the material that satisfies every producer's dreams. I know that director's name was mentioned in the article about the movie being rewritten, but this is the first time I've heard anybody from Marvel confirm it." Marvel Studios' Avi Arad is producing the film with Steven Paul and his Crystal Sky Productions. Stu Zicherman and Raven Metzner wrote the first draft of the script, which follows a suburban family man who becomes the test subject for a technology research lab that transforms him into a living computer. The trade says the studio is looking for a director and that 'Wicker Park' helmer Paul McGuigan appears to be in the running but no negotiations have begun. July 22, 2003: Avi Arad recently spoke about several Marvel films coming to a theater near you. here's what he had to say about Deathlok: "...Then we'll have news in a couple of weeks on Deathlok. It's a great script, and this movie is going to get made. And we just got a phenomenal director." Could it be Lee Tamahori? June 3, 2003: IGN FilmForce has learned from reliable sources that none other than Lee Tamahori ('Die Another Day') is the frontrunner to direct Paramount's live-action adaptation of the Marvel Comics character, Deathlok. Stu Zickerman and Raven Mentzner have penned the screenplay for Marvel Studios and Crystal Sky Productions. New Zealand-born Tamahori has also directed 'Along Came a Spider', 'The Edge', 'Mulholland Falls' and 'Once Were Warriors'. March 5, 2003: From Comics2Film: "Buzz has been gradually picking up on "Deathlok," Marvel's cyborg soldier from the future. "We'd love it to be our first movie with Paramount Pictures," [Executive Vice President of Marvel Studios Kevin] Feige said.
