‘Spider-man 4′ Gets a Casting Call

Besides the Thor casting, today’s news has been mostly about Spider-man 4. Continuing that trend, we’re bringing you yet another update for the film. After the whole Black Cat rumor, we have no definite idea who will be playing Felicia Hardy but we do have a few big name actresses surrounding the role.
Today’s news doesn’t necessarily involve Black Cat but is somewhat of a casting update. It’s not a villain or anything like that but you will have to continue with this article to see the latest casting call for Spider-man 4.
According to Spoiler TV, Spider-man 4 is looking for a toddler with red hair for an unspecified role:

2 or 3 year old boy to play 2 year old, Caucasian with RED HAIR, an adorable toddler with an engaging personality, on set experience preferred. IDENTICAL TWINS ONLY
I’m sure it’s the studio trying to be as vague as possible with this casting call but it really makes you wonder exactly what they want with a toddler boy with red hair. I have no idea what they would want but other sites point to the fact that we could see a Peter Parker/Mary Jane infant in Spider-man 4.
It’s very possible they decided to go with a child for the couple but I wouldn’t want to see it play out that way. The common complaint would be it doesn’t necessarily follow the Spider-man story, for one, he had a daughter named May “MayDay” Parker.
Of course this wouldn’t be the first time the studio messed with the history of Spider-man, see any of the first three films for references. But one has to wonder why they would add a child to the mix of so many story lines that are inevitably going to be played out with the second planned trilogy of films?
Back to the source, they updated their story with this, “NOTE: Thanks to several fans who have pointed out that there is a possibility the casting could be for a young baby Cletus Kasady who eventually grows up to be the villain Carnage!”
I don’t necessarily buy that angle for the film either because I wouldn’t want to see Carnage as a child first. I certainly wouldn’t want to see the Carnage baby grow up to eventually fight an aging Spider-man.
My guess is, it could be the love child of Mary Jane and Peter Parker or it could be the child of one of Mary Jane’s relatives, if anything, her nephew. In other words, we don’t need to see a love child just yet because if Superman Returns taught us anything, don’t add super children to the equation, it’s a great way to get your franchise in turnaround with words like reboot attached to your next film, something Spider-man definitely doesn’t need right now.
