Sam Rockwell Talks About War Machine Armor in ‘Iron Man 2′
By Landfill | November 3, 2009
In Marvel’s upcoming CBM, Iron Man 2, Sam Rockwell will play Justin Hammer, a shady arms dealer who competes with Stark Industries. If you happened to catch a few glimpses of the footage shown at Comic-con, you’d see Don Cheadle’s character and Rockwell’s hanging out talking about War Machine’s weapons.
After seeing the footage, some of us are still wondering what they’re doing together since Hammer is considered a villain. Continue with this article to see what Rockwell had to say about their character’s relationship on screen.
Of course we’re not going to see an evil War Machine played by Cheadle, or at least I hope not, but the clips from San Diego seem to tell a different story. Rockwell says the two are co-workers.
“Don and I, we’re working together,” said Rockwell of the pair’s relationship. “He works with me in spite of some of my personality flaws.”
Rockwell goes on to say some of those personality flaws are “A bit of a shark,” meaning he’s all about business but doesn’t have to be honest about it.
“Don’s character, Rhodey, needs to work with me. He has no choice,” said Rockwell. “So we team up and we build this fabulous War Machine.”
Sam Rockwell said he really wanted to put on the finished War Machine armor his character helped build but ultimately, Don wouldn’t let him.
What do you think of Justin Hammer and Jim Rhode’s partnership? Tell us what you think in the comments.

I like the idea of making Rhodes have to leave Stark’s side. Maybe they are creating some Stark drama to show that there is no perfect life for a superhero, even if you are rich and famous. I would like to see Rhodes reluctantly move on and what that means for each character. Of course, I would love to see them join back up at the end to save each other.

Yeah I would want to see them both flying together in order to beat a villain. It would be nice to see a team up of sorts but keep it simple, we don’t need tons of backstory with this certain story arc. In other words, let’s see this happen in the upcoming Iron Man 2.
