‘Lobo’ Producer Joel Silver Updates the Upcoming CBM

By Landfill | November 23, 2009

A few Lobo updates ago, we told you in November, director Guy Ritchie would be shooting a test filming to see exactly who they wanted the CBM to look. Well, it’s November so you expect to hear some news about the test footage being shot. Today, Joel Silver talks about the early footage from Guy Ritchie along with addressing casting rumors. Continue with this article for the latest Lobo update.

“We’re working on ‘Lobo’ now,” said Silver during an interview with Collider. “I was looking at a test we made and I was seeing it through the eyes of [the San Diego] Comic-Con — through the eyes of that audience. It’s important to know that that audience is the biggest in the world. That’s the audience that you want to get.”

It would be really great if the audience at  Comic-Con would get to see the work that Ritchie has done so far. If the test footage goes well, we can expect to hear some news about a start date in filming or if anything, a release date. If it doesn’t go well, we’ll most likely get more news of another test taking place in the near future.

If you recall, Jeffrey Dean Morgan first expressed interest in the role of Lobo but more recently, had some doubts about the role. It’s clear he wants to do it but doesn’t think he has what it takes for the part.

Joel Silver heard what Morgan had to say and he responded with this, “I like Jeffery Dean, but you know we’re working our way through it. We’ll see what happens.”

All names that have been thrown out there for Lobo don’t stick for me. I’ve heard a few names but Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s is the best choice so far. It would be interesting to see him take on the Lobo role but then again, it’s going to be interesting to see exactly how they’re going to make this movie.

Who do you think should play Lobo? Tell us what you think in the comments.

Mickey Rourke’s head has swollen already. I’m tired of him again. I agree that Andrew ( Leatherface ) Bryniarski has the size and the skills to pull it off. He was good in The Program, Hudson Hawk even the 1st Street Fighter movie. According to IMDB he voiced Lobo already on some X-mas special.
