Latest ‘Thor’ Casting Update

By Landfill | November 20, 2009

Idris ElbaAs principal photography inches closer, we’re getting more updates for Marvel’s upcoming CBM, Thor. More recently, we told you director Kenneth Branagh signed Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson, and Tadanobu Asano to play The Warriors Three, a trio of Asgardian adventurers who fight alongside the Thor. Today we’re giving you another update for the cast of Thor that seems so perfect. Continue with this article for the latest Thor news.

According to THR’s Heat Vision Blog, Idris Elba (The Wire, The Losers) will be joining Kenneth Branagh’s cast for Thor that already consists of Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, and the three previously mentioned. Elba will also be joined by Jaimie Alexander, Colme Feore, and Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd.

According to the source, Elba will be playing Heimdall, the guardian of Asgard who stands on the BiFrost Bridge ready to defend the city from intruders.

I’ve seen a few productions recently involving Idris Elba and today’s news seems perfect to me. I’m not sure how he’ll play into the movie, whether it just be a cameo or an invasion of Asgard remains to be seen. All I know is, he will play the part to perfection and if Heimdall gets to see some action this time around, it will be amazing to see.
