Is Black Cat in ‘Spider-man 4′?
By Landfill | November 10, 2009
I’m not necessarily the biggest fan of posting rumors so I decided to wait to for some confirmation on this. Earlier today, Mania received word ,via their reliable source, that Black Cat would make an appearance in Sam Raimi’s fourth installment in the Spider-man franchise.
Along with the addition of Felicia Hardy, Mania also said Rachel McAdams (pictured right) has met with the producers to play the anti-hero/love interest to Peter Parker. But that’s not the only news surrounding Spider-man 4 today.
By the way, no official word from anyone involved with the film yet to confirm any of this so it’s still considered a rumor nonetheless.
/Film received an email from someone giving more proof to the Black Cat addition:
A /Film reader named Ambrose H forwarded me a link that at least confirms two parts of the story:
1. Sam Raimi and Co are already casting the feature
2. They are looking for a new female lead
Peter Sciretta from /Film goes on to say 27 year old British actress, Romola Garai (pictured left), has auditioned for a role in Spider-man 4 via The Observer:
Love is at the root of everything good that has ever happened and will happen.” This phrase swam into focus as I moved up the escalator at Oxford Circus tube on Tuesday morning on my way to put myself “on tape” for a part in Spider-Man 4. This is the acting equivalent of the London Marathon in that it’s important to try your best as long as you understand that you aren’t going to win.
Back to Mania, they say they’re now in the casting stages for another part, a male villain to be exact, for Spider-man 4. This is interesting because it was assumed Lizard would be the next villain, a role that’s been cast since part 2.
If the last bit is true, it would mean Bruce Campbell wouldn’t be playing a villain like we all hoped he would. He is attached for a “Meaty role,” according to the director but it’s obviously not a villain.
Be sure to keep checking back here for the latest updates surrounding Spider-man 4.
What do you think of the recent Spider-man rumors? Who would you want cast as Felicia Hardy/Black Cat? Tell us what you think in the comments.

If Campbell isn’t playing the villain and the Lizard isn’t involved, who would they have? Rachel McAdams as the Black Cat would be amazing. I like the idea of turning up the love interest struggle for Peter Parker/Spider-man. That’s always been a big part of his story. I would like to see Campbell’s “meaty role” be one that leads to his villain role in the 5th installment if not this one.

Guys, guys…We need to open our eyes. Bruce Campbell will be playing the exact type of roles hes been playing. Raimi and Campbell trick us with word usage. That “meaty” role probably just mean he is going to be working with meat. Maybe cutting it up, or being a chef as a small role.

First of all, I like the almost certain introduction of Black Cat but not the current selection of the actress. Rachel McAdams was good in State of Play but I don’t know, maybe we can do better, I don’t have anyone in mind yet but we can do better in my opinion.
And the Bruce Campbell subject. Intense to say the least, but I don’t know if everyone forgot or just don’t care, but he is part of the Spider-Man franchise already, he was the ring announcer in the first movie and even took credit of given to Peter Parker with famous alter ego. So from there to become Kraven the Hunter or Mysterio is a little far fetched to me, specially if they try to transform him into Kraven. The “meaty role” could still be something good but my guess is that it won’t be a villain, as a matter of fact I can see him as a guide for Parker in a moment of weakness, reminding him that the decision we take can affect others as he already know when he let that thief escape and we all know what happen. Or it could be a villain taking revenge on Spider-Man for not helping him when he needed, but the origin of Kraven as far as I know don’t match with that and neither Mysterio but the latter can be adjust a little and maybe just maybe can work well.

Actually he would be perfect as Mysterio. It could be explained that he was Mysterio from the first movie. Maybe he saw Parker putting on the outfit as the ring anouncer and took on different personas as he watched and plotted.
But hey….that’s just me.
