Christopher Mintz-Plasse & Clark Duke Talk ‘Kick-Ass’

By Landfill | November 3, 2009

Kick AssWith Kick-Ass coming soon, the month of April 2010 to be exact, you can expect news to start pouring in soon. It’s been awhile since we’ve updated the CBM but today two stars from the film talk about how they came into their characters by reading Mark Millar’s work.

Mintz-Plasse told MTV he recognized the name of his character from somewhere and decided to look through his dad’s comic book collection and pulled out the first issue of Kick-Ass. Of course we all know by now Mintz-Plasse plays a mysterious crime fighting vigilante named Red Mist but we haven’t heard much about Duke’s character.

Duke plays the role of Marty, a friend to Dave Lizewski, aka Kick-Ass, and hangs out with the secret crime fighter at a comic book store. Duke said he’s read just about everything from Millar.

“I had the comic first,” said Duke, “I’ve been a big fan of Mark [Millar] ever since ‘The Authority’ and followed everything he’s done since then. And John Romita, too, obviously—he’s drawn every major character in the world over his career. So yeah, I definitely had the comic first.”

I have to say I think it’s awesome these two actors have decided to actually take a second to look at the characters they’re playing. You have to admire the dedication to the source material they both share. It’s also nice to see some research from these two guys and I’m hoping it translates well whenever we get a chance to see the two on the big screen.
