‘Thor’ to Film in New Mexico?

We’ve been reporting quite a bit on Thor recently. It’s not because we love the God of Thunder more than any other comic book character, it’s the fact that Marvel’s upcoming CBM is getting closer to it’s shooting schedule. One thing’s missing for their schedule, that that thing is a location. Could Thor be shooting a few shots in New Mexico?
Earlier this month we informed you Marvel was looking for someone to play Marcy Lewis:
(20) Is a college student. Aloof, jaded beyond her years, she thought her internship with scientist Kate Spelling would be an easy 6 college credits. However, she’s been stuck for months in this small New Mexico town and relegated to a wide range of unglamorous activities. Kate has been particularly hard on Marcy, making it her personal project to see that Marcy lives up to her potential. Marcy deals with her situation both by using subtle irony and by being an overt wiseass.
It’s very possible for Marvel to actually go to New Mexico to film a couple shots for the film because filming locations are becoming scarce. Just last year we watched as director McG chose New Mexico to film Terminator Salvation because of a 25% rebate and absence of an interest rate cap and floor.
Green Lantern recently had to make the move from Australia to the states because of funding and will now shoot in New Orleans because it is cheaper.
Alibi, an online site that provides all the information you are looking for related to news, films, music, arts, food and other topics, also thinks it’s very possible for Marvel to scout the state for a location to start principle photography next year.
Everything right now involving Thor is being kept a secret for now, we don’t officially know who’s in Thor other than Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddelston, and Natalie Portman, so a shooting location would probably be the last thing Marvel leaks to the press.
