I think Mysterio is a great idea. I really liked the comment about how Bruce has been watching him the whole time. I think that could really work well and be a nice way to tie all of the films together. I also think that the Chameleon would be a good villian to throw in. He does a nice job of creating anarchy in Spidey and Pete’s life. I think I would like this scenario the best:

Spidey 4: Mysterio as villain (maybe an additional villian: kraven, scorpion, rhino?) And maybe through all of this Pete and MJ start to heal their relationship. At the same time, you could develop the Conners/Parker relationship a little more and end with the serum issue leading up to the Lizard, making this issue a little more meaningful since the films just portray Conners as a professor that pays a little more attention to Parker, instead of the mentor that he plays in the comics.

Spidey 5: Lizard as villain and Chameleon as villian. Spidey would have to deal with fighting his mentor as well as dealing with all of the chaos that Chameleon brings to all aspects of Spidey/Parker’s life.

Hell, they could even say he has been Mysterio all along. Watching, taking on different personas to follow Parker (After all he has shown his secret identity more than once) Maybe he tricks Doc Conners into doing the procedure then calls Kraven to test Parker/Spidey.

My idea from my post in the forums:

Maybe Mysterio has a way to control the Lizard and is wreaking havoc through the city?

My hope would be that Lizard and the “main villain” plot lines would be separate. Peter discovers that Doc Connors is turning into the “mysterious creature” that’s terrorizing the New York Subway. So, he sets out to help is friend and teacher. Unfortunately, another menace shows up that needs Spidey’s attention. Enter Mysterio. Spidey must use his physical abilities to take down the Lizard but must use his smarts to defeat Mysterio (played by Bruce, by the way).

No one is interested in Mysterio!?! That’s ridiculous. I think as far as Bruce Campbell’s involvement and the special effects are concerned, Mysterio would make for an excellent villain. I also think it would be nice to use him as a springboard into a Sinister Six build-up for the sixth film. I’m just saying…

That was the big problem I had with the organic web shooters. You didn’t get to see him developing the formula and creating the shooters.

I also felt it/they were his greatest asset as well as his greatest weakness. He could adjust the formula to suit each villain (stronger for Rhino, insulated for Electro and so on) but they also jammed, got damaged or would run out just when he needed them.

Peter’s mutation, Lizard, and Morbius would have all tied in well with the next story. It could have had a Blade cameo/crossover along with bringing in Kraven. I know too many villains isn’t a good thing but this could all be done in the next three films.

I was just thinking it would be awesome to see a Man-Spider but I wonder how the audience who doesn’t know the Spier-man history would respond to seeing Tobey Maguire mutate into a monster? I don’t know if it would come off as being cheesy or Raimi trying to make the movie more horror oriented.

Oh, and it’s true that the last few films haven’t shown off Pete’s brain power. It would be nice to see him do some investigating/problem solving while trying to figure out who the villain is. This would work well if Mysterio were the villain.

I think spidey should start his mutation (grow a couple arms, etc) which would tie in well with the Lizard story about finding a cure to prevent his transformation. they could bring in Kravin and the vulture to mix things up.

I would love to see the Lizard as the main villain with Kravin the Hunter coming into town to hunt him down. Then it will be a race for Parker to cure his friend while keeping Kravin at bay.
You could get some great action shots as well as show off Parkers brain power(something I think they haven’t really done yet)
