Ryan Reynolds Talks ‘Green Lantern’ and ‘Deadpool’
By Landfill | October 2, 2009
Anyone happen to catch Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night? I happened to tune in and Ryan Reynolds was having a great time talking about his new CBMs Green Lantern and Deadpool. After the jump you can read a few quotes that update both of the developing projects.
When Green Lantern was brought up, Reynolds told Fallon, “I’m 4-5 months away from beginning shooting,” while being very cautious as to not let anything slip. He jokingly said he had to be tight lipped about the whole thing for fear of a WB taking extreme measure to keep him quiet.
“It’s crazy, it’s the only job I’ve ever had that I’m not allowed to really talk about. I think there’s like a representative from Warner Brothers who I’m sure is following me around ready to blow-dart me if I say a single word,” said Reynolds, “I probably have a chip in me somewhere, like if I start talking about it, I’ll just pass away.”
Reynolds went on to tell Fallon exactly what Green Lantern will be about. “A lot of [the film] is sort of like a space epic and some of it is on planet Earth,” said Reynolds, “[Green Lantern] has this ring and he’s been chosen to have this power and the ring can kind of create anything that his will or his imagination can conjure up.”
While on Late Night, Ryan Reynolds confirmed that he will be reprising the role of Wade Wilson for Fox’s Deadpool spin off.
“At his point [playing both roles] makes you just like an Internet hero, nothing really more than that,” joked Reynolds.
After the last quote the show went to commercial and Reynolds came back to play shuffleboard with Jimmy, you can watch the video HERE.
Very special thanks to MTV for transcribing the interview for us.

Yeah I saw, I was about to comment it here somewhere, at the forum or whatever.
It was really nice and I was excited to hear the confirmation of the glimpse that we know about the Green Lantern film, also an approximate date to start shooting the film.
And it was cool to see that he have a grasp of the character, he knows the general idea of it and correct Fallon without hesitation when Jimmy joke about the ring only zap laser beams and Ryan said he can conjure and construct anything he can imagine and maintain with his will.
So lets hope for the best in both films, Deadpool and Green Lantern.

Yeah he’s obviously the right person for the job. I really like how he shot freezing laser beams out of his eyes and froze the camera. That was the funniest part of the entire show last night.

LOL yeah, the last time he was on the show was nice too, he is an awesome person and have a really easy going personality.
The Late Night with Jimmy Fallon started pretty slow and it wasn’t that funny but now with that bit of shooting freezing beams and heat beams too is becoming a sensation and is nice to see all the guest wanting their share of the fun.

In recent updates from Lauren Shuler Donner, the producer for everything X-men, said they were not going to spin off from the version in Wolverine. Instead, they’re going to reboot the character and make him more like the comic book character.
