Some of these actors should not even be in the running. Captain America is a huge aspect of Marvel Comics and some would even say the face of Marvel. Thomas Jane would have been an excellent choice, but out of the people in the running i think Jensen Ackles is the best for the part. He is a young and good looking up and coming actor. He has great personality in the rolls i have seen him in. This would be the perfect breakthrough performance for someone like him.

It’s funny how many people don’t like the list when you guys made it. I have my pick in there but it was up to you guys to choose who you wanted as Captain America

As for Tom Jane, I agree, I wouldn’t mind seeing that but Marvel probably thinks the general audience might get too confused since he’s already played Frank Castle.

One last thing, I think any of those actors would love to get this role. If Ackles were handed this role, I’m sure it’d be a perfect breakthrough performance for anyone if given the chance.

Well, the list for the poll started from a list provided by MTV and their respective poll, after that a few of us provided some names as our personal picks, the result was that current 18 men list.

So sure, people have already and will continue to disagree about certain names but every name on the list have someone justifying his nomination, so it’s kind of fair.

And who knows, they may pull a Christopher Reeve/Hugh Jackman and pick a complete unknow that has the spot on look, commanding voice and create a new star.
In the end it is up to Joe Johnston and the execs at Marvel.

That’s true it is up to Marvel. I just hope they make the movie a winner considering they made Punisher Warzone. I like Warzone, but it didn’t do well at the Box Office. I want Captain America to be a top CBM like Iron Man or The Dark Knight.

Lionsgate made Punisher under Marvel Knights and considering it came out around Christmas (Not the best time of year for a revenge saga), it was already being put down because of a female director and was released durring the worse part of the “finantial downturn” where most box office draws were down. It was doomed from day one. Marvel has there act together, they know the material and respect it and us.

Marvel is 2 for 2 with Ironman & Incredible Hulk. I see them drawing a flush with Cap, Thor & Avengers.

All the supporters of PWZ can say is, “it’s just bad timing, if PWZ came out during the summer, it would’ve done better.” Or the crap about it being a female director made the film difficult to support. And I say that’s bullshit. If the movie’s crap, it’ll get crap numbers.

If PWZ was a good movie, it would have gotten good Box Office numbers. Simple as that. The Punisher with Jane could’ve been played at the same time and would’ve done better than PWZ still, because it’s a good movie. Landfill, you yourself said that if both Punsher’s were out at the same time, you would prefer to see the Thomas Jane movie. You all know this film was poorly made, especially compared to the Thomas Jane movie. Making these excuses for a movie that doesn’t deserve the respect is just a waste. It’s not good, it didn’t do well. Too bad.

However, I happen to be the only person who liked Hulk more than The Incredible Hulk – which wasn’t so incredible in my mind. But maybe I just find that these recent Marvel movies are made because the execs thought that all anyone wanted to see was action every 5 minutes, without any story attached. And maybe they were right. But I want to see a good movie – especially when its about comic book characters, because those are the most difficult to translate to film.

If I had it my way, I’d make Punisher 2 with Thomas Jane, and I would have PWZ exist as a movie made based on “the mysterious Punisher that haunts criminals”. In Punisher 2, we’d see PWZ posters, and Jane would just piss on them, or throw bad guys through PWZ billboards. He’d make fun of it for its ridiculousness and go on doing his Punisher thing.

And I also disagree with Thomas Jane being a good pick for Captain America. I just don’t feel it. Besides the fact that he was already the Punisher, he’s just not a Cap A type of actor. Jane is really down to earth, he’s very natural and real. But his form of natural is different.

Captain America is supposed to be a patriot who whole-heartedly believes in what he does. It is his leadership that we have to feel, and that will carry on for many sequels to come. Matt Damon is the best on that list, however I can understand Jensen Ackles would be a pick because he’s younger, and makes all the teen girls wet when they see him. But other than that, while he isn’t a bad actor, I don’t think he has the right look. Matt Damon feels more like someone who could really pull of the devout, hard-working character who’s meant to lead the Avengers and protect America from Hitler.

I do not know how the hell John Cena made it on to this list. The guy is not an actor. He is a wrestler who wants to act. That’s it. Stone Cold Steve Austin is a better pick, because at least he can act. John Cena makes Mark Whalberg look like Kevin Spacey. And even Mark Wahlberg is on this list. Who made this list???

I didn’t just mean because it was Christmas time for the release of PWZ, it was also the higth of the recession and no one was going to the movies. Most releases numbers sucked ass that month.
I liked both films as I stated in another thread. I just pointed out some issues it had. I had issues with both but liked both just the same(but for different reasons) Hell, I evenhave a Punisher shirt signed by Jane framed on my wall. I would have loved to see him return as Castle but it wasn’t in the cards.

And as for Cap I still am holding out for Justin Hartley
