Raimi Confirms Campbell for ‘Spider-man 4′
By Landfill | October 19, 2009
A few weeks ago we provided some quotes from frequent Raimi collaborator Bruce Campbell. In that article he said he had a significant role in the upcoming CBM. Today Raimi speaks on the subject and gives us a little insight for the film.
As of right now, their is no villain for Spider-man 4. Gary Ross is currently updating the script and has to have it done by March of next year. Filming is to start in the first quarter of 2010 and Sony definitely doesn’t want to change their release date.
While the script is being polished by Ross, Raimi promised friend and collaborator Bruce Campbell a part in the upcoming CBM.
“I promised him we would write something because I really love putting him in the pictures,” Raimi said. “I promised him a good, meaty role.”
Not much else is known about Campbell’s role but some have suggested he’d be a villain in the fourth installment. Ross hasn’t yet chosen a bad guy for the picture but if this isn’t an idea, I don’t know what is.
A few fans think Campbell could possibly play Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio. It would be a good role for the actor and would work well in a film. Mysterio is known for his top notch special effects to get his crimes past the law. It would make for a great show but I’m not sure that’s what they’re looking for this time around.
The script has been through so many hands it’s obvious they’re trying to get the story right after Spider-man 3 was all over the place. With all the attention on the story, it’s nice to know it will all make sense this time around.
Keep checking back here for the latest Spider-man 4 updates.

Bruce would make a good kraven . just get him alittle more beefier. He’d make a great villian.

I would love to see him play Mysterio. An over the top Hollywood type with kick ass special effects. Would make for some awesome caper scenes and cool things for Spidey to have to deal with. Just please don’t have him kidnap MJ or Aunt May. Please?

What if he kidnapped Gwen Stacy?
I think it would be great to see Mysterio find out who Peter is and involve his loved ones in his special effects.

Hasn’t all of his villains found out his identity so far? It’s the worst kept secret in the world. In the comics, he guarded it with his life. Didn’t even let the Fantastic Four know who he was at one point. That’s one part of the movies that I am really bugged by.
“I’m going to make an outfit to hide my identity so my loved ones will be safe”
“Oh no, my loved ones are in a bad situation, I need to save them.”
“By the way, I’m Peter Parker. Don’t tell anyone, K?”
BAH. Keep it a secret for once.

I’m on board with Darth Zeppelin. The only people that DON’T know who he is would be Aunt May – who probably thinks it – and the people at the paper. I think almost everyone else in NYC has at least seen him without his mask if not more. I would like it if Mysterio didn’t know who Spidey really was but happened to put Gwen or Mary Jane in harm’s way through some sort of modeling or acting they might be doing. It might even be nice to see Gwen and Mary Jane after the same part or something and how that plays out for Peter.
