Len Wein Talks ‘Wolverine’ Sequel

By Landfill | October 25, 2009

Len Wein, most notable for creating Wolverine, among a few other Marvel characters, was recently interviewed and was asked a few questions pertaining to his creation along with what he thought about the recent X-men related film. He also talks about a few other comic book movies that he really enjoyed. Continue with this article to see what Wein had to say.

Wein told Rotten Tomatoes he liked the latest Wolverine tale starring Hugh Jackman.”I think they’ve done a terrific job of translating it from one medium to the next.”

Wein said in the interview the reason why he gave Wolverine his claws through his knuckles instead of the finger tips is because of the cool factor.

Wein goes on to say he really enjoyed last summer’s Iron Man movie directed by Jon Favreau starring Robert Downey Jr. “Once you hire Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, you’re done. Almost everything you do after that is gravy.”

He said he really liked Edward Norton’s take on Bruce Banner but really hated DC’s Catwoman starring Halle Berry. “Edward Norton was a terrific Bruce Banner. Some of the others didn’t work quite as well — Catwoman, I don’t think was a particularly good film.”

Getting back to Wolverine, the creator said he thinks the Japanese story is the perfect choice and he really wants to see the characters explored a bit more. “[The Japanese story] is the perfect next choice. It gives you a whole other side of the character and allows you to explore aspects that have never been seen on film before — the noble warrior, as opposed to the berserker.”
