Jackie Earle Haley to Play Sinestro?
By Landfill | October 17, 2009
You all know Jackie Earle Haley from Watchmen which was released earlier this year. He played Walter Kovacs aka Rorschach. One can only assume he enjoys the superhero genre with today’s news.
According to Harry Knowles over at Aint It Cool News, Jackie Earle Haley is leading the candidates to play Sinestro, the main villain in the upcoming CBM Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds.
Right now it’s all just a rumor and nothing is set in stone but the news comes from someone who is working on the film.
I just have to say that this is perfect casting if there’s any truth behind it. Haley was great in Little Children, a film for which he was nominated for an Oscar, and played the role of Kovacs to perfection in Watchmen. It will be interesting to see his take on Green Lantern’s villain.
Knowles goes on to point out in the script, Superman will make a cameo. Not sure if Brandon Routh will reprise the role but that scene might have to be cut if they don’t have a choice candidate for the next film.
If the scene with Kal-El stays, it’s a little reassurance that DC will do everything in their power in order to keep Superman when they lose the right next decade.
It’s nice to see DC start to take a few pointers from Marvel with a few superhero crossovers. Let’s just hope it’s a good choice and not something that seems really out of place.
What do you think of Haley’s rumored casting? Who else would you want to play Sinestro? Share your thoughts with us in the comments. Also, be sure to tell us what you think of the possible Superman cameo.
