‘Green Lantern’ Headed to New Orleans?
By Landfill | October 20, 2009
We reported in the past that Green Lantern would not be filming in Australia. There were reports that production could move to Canada or Mexico, possibly to the states, New Orleans Louisiana to be exact. Today we get a little bit of info concerning the latest shooting location rumors.
According to The Times - Picayune, “An official at New Orleans’ fledgling Second Line Stages said he has been contacted by producers and that ‘Green Lantern’ production offices could be set up in town as early as this week.”
“The rumors are correct,” said Kevin Murphy, the manager of studio operations at the Lower Garden District facility. “We are working out the details, and we have a nonrefundable contract” to rent stage space to the production.
Murphy also says the studio will be using sound stages in December and will start to build sets later this year. He also goes on to say principle photography would start sometime in May and end in July or August.
Nothing is set in stone at the moment but it’s very likely production will start in New Orleans. Warner Bros. recently shot a few scene of Jonah Hex at the same location and they had nothing but good things to say about the place. It’s very likely that the Hex experience offered some insight for the Green Lantern project.
