Gerard Butler Talks ‘Sin City’ Sequel
By Landfill | October 11, 2009
In our last post on Sin City 2, we provided a few words from frequent Rodriguez collaborator Danny Trejo. We ended that article with the words, “Sin City 2 keeps us updated all the time with non-movement so next month be on the lookout for the next update that leads to nothing.”
Today’s news could lead to something, or it could join the rest of the archived updates that we’ve collected over the years. Either way, we get our monthly installment of Sin City 2 news.
Recently Gerard Butler spoke with MTV about a possible 300 prequel along with an update for Sin City 2. He worked with Frank Miller on 300 and they speak often, often enough where Butler can update the sequel to Sin City.
“I could see myself working with Frank again,” Butler said. “But, I don’t know. Graphic novels are things that I wouldn’t do a lot of, so I would have to really choose carefully before I did.”
Butler went on to say that he spoke with Frank recently about Sin City but not the 300 prequel. “At one point, he talked to me about one of the ‘Sin City’ [movies],” explained the actor, “And we discussed that.”
The actor didn’t say who they discussed but everyone currently has an actor attached for the previous film. So, could Gerard Butler be up for the role of Wallace from Hell and Back?
If this is a possibility, Gerard would join the likes of Johnny Depp and Antonio Banderas who were rumored to play the character in the past.
Wallace is A demobilized Navy SEAL who received the Medal of Honor, he lives a life of relative peace and solitude against the backdrop of crime-ridden Basin City. Having left the Navy years prior, he makes a living as an artist and as a short order cook.
Butler said that Miller wants him for the third film which is supposedly based on Hell and Back. “There’s a kind of cool character I think in the third one,” Butler revealed, “But it was all very kind of soft talk.”
The second film will be based on A Dame to Kill For which follows Dwight McCarthy, who was played by Clive Owen in the 2005 film, and an original story from Frank Miller.
If production starts soon, most likely not, we could see the next film soon and possibly see the third developing right after. Who knows what will happen but keep check here for more updates on a sequel to Sin City.
Who would you want to play Wallace in a Sin City sequel? Do you think we’ll ever see another Sin City film? Tell us what you think in the comments.
