Doug Jones Talks ‘Silver Surfer’ and ‘Green Lantern’
By Landfill | October 16, 2009
If you’re a CBM fanatic you should know who Doug Jones is. He’s the guy that brought Silver Surfer and Abe Sapien to life on the big screen. He played the surfer in the sequel to the Fantastic Four. Today Jones updates the surfer along with another rumor surrounding Green Lantern.
In an exclusive interview with It’s Just Movies, Doug talked about a few projects, his work with Guillermo Del Toro, and his upcoming movie, My Name is Jerry. Below are a few quotes involving upcoming CBMs.
Where are we on another “Silver Surfer” movie?
Your guess is as good as mine … probably better. There are still a couple of years left on their option for two more pictures with me, as a three-picture deal is quite standard when starting a franchise-potential character. But with all the “re-boot” talk of the Fantastic Four, I have no idea where that leaves the Silver Surfer end of things. I would love to re-visit this character. I do love Norrin Radd.
Which part are you going to play in the “Green Lantern” movie?
Am I going to play a part in the “Green Lantern” movie? I did hear such a rumor a couple of months ago, but no one has called me regarding this one yet. But if there’s a character I’m right for, I’d be quite interested to hear about it.
Since Green Lantern is close to starting production, it’s going to be a last minute effort to squeeze him in there. I think rumor has it he’s going to be playing Abin Sur.
As for the surfer, I would want him back for another one but I have no idea how they’re going to do that. I don’t see why they wouldn’t bring him back, he did a fantastic job, one of the high points of Rise of the Silver Surfer.
