Don Cheadle Talks ‘Iron Man 2′
By Landfill | October 31, 2009
It’s been a few weeks since we actually got an update from someone who has worked on the upcoming CBM, Iron Man 2. Last we heard, director Jon Favreau was working hard to piece together the film for release next May. Today we get a few quotes from Don Cheadle who replaces Terrence Howard as Jim Rhodes, aka War Machine.
While speaking to Moviefone about the upcoming CBM, Cheadle said his character has alot of CGI this time around, “The special effects, the amount of things that happen, the amount of CGI, it’s like getting to play with the best toys at the best level.”
“I think the character that I play, my CGI character worked as much as I worked,” explained Cheadle. “The stuntman worked as much as I worked. It’s a huge undertaking. It was great. It was a really different experience than I have worked on before. Robert [Downey Jr.] is a great guy to work with. Jon Favreau, everybody is quality. It’s a lot of fun, the series.”
In the source article Cheadles tells Moviefone he is indeed signed up for more sequels including The Avengers. Cheadles explains that Avengers, is on down the road.
The actor also touches on the subject of replacing Terrence Howard for the CBM sequel. “The sort of ancillary buzz around it was kind of weird, kind of strange. Terrence is a friend of mine. But the actual playing it, I just felt like it was my role. I wasn’t made to feel like I had to sort of take care of what was done before. I really feel like I could make it my own.”
It sounds like Jim Rhodes will be wearing the War Machine armor quite a bit in Iron Man 2. It’s going to be really great when we finally get an “Official” trailer with some War Machine action. Be sure to keep checking back for the latest Iron Man 2 updates.
