Joe Quesada Talks ‘The First Avenger: Captain America’
By Landfill | October 21, 2009
Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada recently attended the Big Apple Comic-Con as the guest of honor and had his own Q & A about anything and everything related to his comic book publishing company. You can image all the comic book related stuff this guys knows but the thing that stands out most is his comment on the upcoming CBM, The First Avenger: Captain America.
This from Comic Book Resources:
I’ve seen a couple of outlines and an initial screenplay, and it’s going to rock everyone’s socks off,” he said. “It’s very unexpected, the kind of movie it is.” Quesada added that “Captain America” sets up “The Avengers” in “a fantastic way” and also mentioned that there is an undisclosed wish list of actors to play the star-spangled superhero.
We have no idea who Marvel wants for the role of Steve Rogers but we did run a poll recently. The fans of CBMs voted and unanimously chose actor Jensen Ackles as the guy to lead the Avengers in 2012.
Interestingly enough, Ackles has heard the voice of the fans and recently commented on the suggestion.
As for the film, I think it’s great to finally see Captain America on the big screen. It’s amazing that it’s going to be the lead in that sets up The Avengers which releases a year later.
I can’t wait to hear the next bit of news concerning the period piece project that tells the story of Steve Rogers and his journey to becoming the First Avenger.

It’s nice to hear that Joe’s pumped at the thought of the script. It’s not often that people get that excited at the initial stages of a film. Cant’ wait.

Its too bad Jensen Ackles doesnt seem all that interested in the part. He would be excellent, and it would really help out his career.

THis has got to be the most awaited marvel movie of all time and who ever marvel gets to put on the red white and blue they need to make sure this guy is signed for at least a 3 or 4 picture deal and not have to deal with the crap Ben Aflack pulled with DareDevil Aflack played the role great but to say he hated it and would not do another movie!!! Hey Ben have you had a hit movie since DareDevil.
SO back to the story at hand Who ever they get i am sure will stand out as well as he should I would love to hear more on who would play the Red Skull as well As for the role I would love to see Jack Nickelson take the role.

Brad Pitt would make a great Steve Rogers. He’s a versatile actor, and thanks to Troy, he’s already good with a shield.
@diazjoseph
I completely agree with you, the last thing we need is another Ben Affleck putting a roadblock in a series. But I think Jack Nicholson’s getting a little too old now to be a super-villain. Someone like Jakie Earl-Haley or maybe Paul Bettany (afterall, he was a close second for the Joker role, so he might be interested)

All actors named would make a good red skull. I don’t necessarily have a favorite but it would be a role an actor could excel at.
I would also like to see Brad Pitt play Steve Rogers but he’s been rumored for the role for a very long time.
