Michael Jackson Wanted to Make ‘Spider-Man’

By Landfill | October 5, 2009

Peter JacksonYou may or may not know that the pop icon Michael Jackson was a fan of comic books. It’s been reported that he had tons of life size statues along with alot of other great comic book related things. He even had those huge arcade systems, one of which was an X-men game from the early 90’s. He liked comic books so much, he almost struck a deal to buy Marvel Comics and have Stan Lee help run the company.

That deal eventually fell through and Jackson lost out on what would come to be a multi-billion dollar franchise a decade later with Disney.

Stan Lee spoke with MTV back in August and talked about Jackson and his love for comic books. He also talked about Michael Jackson’s goal to make a Spider-man film.

“I had been to his place in Neverland … and he wanted to do Spider-Man,” Lee said. “I’m not sure whether he just wanted to produce it or wanted to play the role, you know? Our conversation never got that far along.”

“He thought I’d be the one who could get him the rights and I told him I couldn’t, he would have to go to the Marvel company,” said Lee. “But we did become friendly… and he was a great guy.”
