Surprising Inspiration for Red Mist from ‘Kick-Ass’
By Landfill | September 18, 2009
Notice the differences in the side by side comparison? A major difference from the source material is the mask and hair. Well, that and the modernized version of the suit. I mean we really can’t have Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who plays Red Mist, dressed in spandex can we? Continue with the article to see what or who inspired the look of Red Mist for the upcoming CBM Kick-Ass.
Talking about the new look to the character, “[The look] fits for the character,” Mintz-Plasse told MTV News, “The character is very in his dad’s shadow. He doesn’t get to hang out a lot with friends because he always has a bodyguard around. He kind of wanted that wild side—that ’80s glam-rock kind of look. And I love [David] Bowie—I love that kind of hair.”
Wow, really, David Bowie inspires a comic book character? I really didn’t see that coming but we’ll have to wait til April to see if the change is good for the film.
Red Mist, real name Chris D’Amico, is a vigilante who is inspired by Kick-Ass, the vigilante the film is based on created by Mark Millar. In the story he is the son of a wealthy mob boss. Red Mist drives a tricked out Ford Mustang, the version from the film you can view below.
