‘Kick-Ass’ Creator Talks Sequel

By Landfill | September 17, 2009

Recently, Millar again spoke with MTV about the possible sequel. “There’s a basic plot, the series ends on a teaser for the next one, and the movie ends on that teaser, too.”

I suppose this is good news that there are ideas for a sequel but ultimately it all depends on the Box Office. I think most will go see it but Millar reassures us, “We don’t want to sound too cocky, but we know this is good. It didn’t cost that much money to make. There will definitely be another one.”

Since the movie doesn’t really have to have numbers like most CBMs there’s a big possibility Kick-Ass will be granted a sequel, possibly even a third film if they keep the budget small and it performs way better than expected.

“‘Wanted (Another Mark Millar creation) made a fortune. It made a ton of money, and it was a property nobody ever heard of. And I think ‘Kick-Ass’ is going to be even bigger. Everybody who’s seen bits of it were rubbing their hands together with excitement because they think they’ve stumbled onto something very big. So I can’t complain. It’s not been a genius plan of mine or anything. It’s just been a bunch of happy accidents that led to this.”

It seems like it’s way to early to be thinking of a sequel to a movie we haven’t seen yet, not even a trailer, but Millar would like to start filming as soon as possible because some of the actors are young and they want to keep the youthful look for the next film.

Kick-Ass will be released April 16, 2010.
