Bruce Campbell Talks ‘Spider-Man 4′
By Landfill | September 13, 2009
Rumors have been swirling around Spider-Man 4 since it was announced in 2007. A few of the rumors were Kirsten Dunst would not be back to take on the role of Mary Jane Watson and Morbius was a likely candidate for the next villain. We’ve reported in the past that both are untrue and that Dunst will be back and Morbius, not so much.
Today the rumors are running wild again but this time it’s from a likely likable source. Bruce Campbell is always a familiar face when it comes to director Sam Raimi. He’s made a cameo in every Spider-Man film so far and why not in the fourth one right?
Campbell tells Access Hollywood that his cameo in the fourth film is much bigger than any of his past. He’s said that it’s a very major part but doesn’t know anything about the character.
Anyone’s guess is as good as mine but I’m thinking he could very well be one of the villains in the fourth film. He’d make a good Mysterio and they could somehow tie in his cameos from the past three films together for a good story.
Bruce also said that filming for Spider-Man 4 should start in January of 2010. I guess this means that the latest rewrite by Gary Ross (Seabiscuit, Pleasantville) is good enough to start production. If that’s the case they should be able to make the scheduled release date of May 6, 2011.
Who do you think Bruce Campbellwill be playing in Spider-Man 4? Share your great ideas with us in the comments.

I have been saying since Spider-man 2 that the best movie villain would be Mysterio solely based on the special effects possibilities. And to have Bruce Campbell in a major role in the series…PRICELESS!

I agree Mysterio would have been amazing earlier. It’s great though that they are saving him for the future since CGI didn’t look that great back when the first two movies came out. Spider-Man 3 is already looking outdated.

I think that Mysterio could definately work due to the special effects and mind control. That could tie in nicely to the probably guilt Peter would have from Harry’s death. I think they’ll have the Lizard in there somewhere too as a side role.

Early reports were that Lizard would be the next villain which makes sense since he’s been in 2 of the last 3 movies. I’d like to see Lizard with a bit of Kraven The Hunter.

As long as it all somehow leads up to the Sinister Six in the sixth film…’Nuff Said!

I remember hearing something about Sinister Six. I think Raimi wanted to go that route and it’s still possible, just highly unlikely.
What Six villains would you want to see in the sixth film?
