CBM Exclusive: Mastodon Scoring ‘Jonah Hex’
By Landfill | September 3, 2009

AICN is reporting that the heavy metal band Mastadon is creating the score for the upcoming film Jonah Hex. You may have heard a few songs from the band including Blood and Thunder from their 2004 album Leviathan. Or more recently, Oblivion from their latest album Crack the Skye.
More after the jump…
When the band members of Mastodon were asked how the scoring of Jonah Hex was going, they simply replied “Needless to say, pretty heavy“.
It’s not to often a heavy metal band has the opportunity to score a film let alone anyone that’s not a composer. The only news I’ve heard that sounded anything like this is when Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead had the opportunity to score “There Will Be Blood”. I just don’t know what to make of a Western film being scored by a metal band.
The Film stars Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex along with John Malkovich and Megan Fox. The film has a scheduled release date for June 18, 2010.
What do you think of this interesting choice for the score of Jonah Hex? Tell us in the comments.
