It has been a long road for Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass. It’s been almost a year since we first heard of the casting for the film. Before that they couldn’t find a distributor or anyone to finance the film I’m assuming because of the title and some questionable content. After a few stops in the road of production, filming started in late 2008 and the film had been sitting on ice for awhile.
After the great footage at Comic-con last we heard, Kick-Ass found a distributor and we’ve been waiting patiently for the news of the eventual 2010 release date.
Today we come bearing news that Lionsgate has set the date for April 16, 2010. The date is significant since it’s a week after The Losers hit theaters. The Losers is another CBM that we’ve been reporting on since it first broke news almost 4 years ago. It will be interesting to watch the semi-battle at the Box Office to see which will reign supreme. I realize The Losers will have a week head start but Kick-Ass seems to be living up to the name and should do just that in April.
What do you think, will The Losers affect Kick-Ass? Which one are you wanting to see more?
