‘Namor The Sub-Mariner’ Still In Development
By Landfill | August 13, 2009
If any of you were hoping to see Namor in the upcoming Avengers film you might be going blue from holding your breath forever. In some recent Sub-Mariner news it appears Universal Studios, the people who are still holding onto the rights, are apparently still trying to make the movie.
Nothing has changed as of yet from the past news a few years back. Jonathan Mostow is still the Director, you may remember his attempt at the Terminator franchise with part 3, or his upcoming CBM The Surrogates.
Mostow said in a recent interview that the main hold up is getting the script right which is a good thing. It’s nice to see that they are offering to keep the quality of the film high instead of rushing into production with no script.
It would be nice to see some movement of this soon but I doubt it will be made by Universal. The best case scenario is to let the rights revert back to Marvel Studios in hopes of having some sort of cameo in the Avengers and then possibly start a franchise of movies with the character.
Tell us what you think of the lastest Namor “News” and if you would rather see a stand alone film, or a cameo in the Avengers in the comments below.
