Back in July Director Matthew Vaughn and creator Mark Millar gave the fans of Kick-Ass a very special clip at Comic-Con. The clip was later shown to bigger studios in hopes of getting a U.S. distributor. Rumors were that Lionsgate, Paramount and  Universal were in the running to distribute.

Today we come with news that Lionsgate has won the battle for Kick-Ass and will be distributing the film in the U.S. for a 2010 wide release. There is no actual date of release but we are promised to see the movie in 2010.

The Film stars Aaron Johnson as David Lizewski AKA Kick-Ass, Nicholas Cage as Big Daddy, Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Red Mist.

The plot of the film is about an average boy named David Lizewski who decides to become a superhero. He comes across other vigilantes Big Daddy and his daughter Hit Girl who are trying to bring down a drug baron.

Matthew Vaughn’s Marv Films and Brad Pitt’s Plan B produced and privately financed the project.
